INSTALLING THE 775 INTEL CPU SOCKET INTO THE MOTHERBOARD 775

HOW TO INSTALL THE CPU SOCKET 775 INTEL ON THE MOTHERBOARD 775VM800 ENJOY IT!!! ^_^_^!!!

All Core i3 Models

Core i3 is the new Intel CPU aimed to value computers. It is the third Intel processor with an integrated memory controller (Core i7 and Core i5 were the first two). It is based on Core architecture, like Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad, but with several enhancements to increase performance ( Nehalem microarchitecture ). This CPU family is available in two different sockets, LGA1156 (for desktop computers) and PGA988 (for laptops).

Intel processors based on previous architectures (socket 775 and older) use an external memory controller located in the north bridge chip (also known as Memory Controller Hub, MCH). This means that on CPUs using this architecture the chipset (and therefore, the motherboard) is the component that sets the type and amount of memory you can install on the computer. Since on Core i3 (as well as on Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs) the memory controller is embedded in the CPU, it's the processor (and not the chipset) who determines which technology and amount of memory you may have installed on your system. The motherboard, however, may impose a limitation on the amount of memory you can install. The memory controller integrated on Core i3 accepts only DDR3 memory (up to 1.6 V; memory modules which require more voltage than this will not work and may even damage the processor). It supports dual-channel architecture with DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 memories on desktop models and DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 on mobile versions.

Obsolete Upgrades

Today, I bit the bullet and purchased a new video card from Tiger Direct to replace my aging Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTS–the old model with the G80 architecture and 320 MB of video RAM that I bought for way too much money about two weeks before the cheaper and slightly better-performing 8800 GT was released. My disappointment was palpable, like many things are.

However, the GeForce has served me well and I’ve gotten nearly two and a half years of bang out of my buck. Of course, it would go even further if I wasn’t greedy and didn’t want to run Starcraft 2  at 1080P on full settings on a 47 inch LCD… but I digress.

The replacement?  An XFX Radeon HD 4890. Just look at the benchmarks , then the price , and it’s easy to see why this was my option. The 4890 reference card noticably beats the Geforce GTX260 at most applications, with the bonus of being less expensive. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to get the Radeon for less than $200, as they disappeared from the market for a few weeks. Now they’re back–only temporarily, if I had to guess–for the vicinity of $210. (The ever-lovable Bing Cashback program has raked me 21 dollars in return, though, so I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.)
