BenQ Joybee GP1 Review

BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini Projector is perfect for small business customers who wish to travel light, but still must show customers a sharp, bright demonstration. At $299, the GP1 is a wonderful deal, but several modifications would make it better still.

A silver precious metal ring protruding in the top makes it simple to regulate the focus. The very best of the Joybee GP1 functions an indented circular panel of touch controls backlit in glowing blue, and it is very visible in the dark. However, you need to know wherever to press–not on the icon alone, but about the edge of the circle otherwise, nothing may happen. The possible lack of haptic feedback causes it to be even more difficult.

We favored while using credit card-sized remote: it is small rectangle-shaped rubber control keys made it simple to change any feature, along with launch delivering presentations and films from a connected USB disk drive.

On the back of the BenQ Joybee GP1 is a slot for the 15-pin connector, which limbs off to a VGA port and amalgamated connections. Additionally on the back from the projector are a USB port and a 3.5mm audio output. At the bottom top, a little foot could be turned to enhance the picture. However, once the foot is completely lengthy, the 15-pin connector at the back of the projector boosts the back edge of the GP1, leading to it to wobble. Gleam mess pit for a tripod.

An optionally available dock that hooks up to the 15-pin slot enables you to play audio, movies, and shots using an ipod device.

General performance

On 1st plugging the projector in and moving it about, we were amazed to find out that the gadget is sensible enough to know when it is being tilted up or straight down vertically, adjusting the image instantly so that it isn’t keystone. Menus were easy and simple to navigate. As the SVGA (858 x 600) GP1 has a native element ratio of 4: 3, it automatically transformed to 16: 9 when an exterior source had exactly the same ratio.

The GP1 is ranked at 100 lumens and a 2000: 1 comparison ratio; inside a few feet of the walls, we discovered it a lot bright, despite overhead lights on. Movies, our notebook’s desktop computer, and PowerPoint demonstrations were all sharp and multi-colored. From 3 ft, the GP1 projected a picture that was 24 ins in diagonal. At a distance of 10 ft, the picture was 6 ft throughout diagonally. However, at the latter distance, we required to turn off the expense lights to be able to view images perfectly.

You may also use the GP1 sans laptop. We plugged a USB disk drive to the back of the projector, and an easy menu released where we’re able to select shots or films to play in the drive. Within secs we were looking at pictures and viewing films stored on the disk drive.

Unfortunately, the GP1 can not natively play PowerPoint presentations; you have to convert them to JPGs first. However, you are able to produce a slideshow on the projector alone; since it lets you choose the interval in between slides and the changeover type.

Be cautioned that the GP1 gets pretty warm: even with the enthusiast coming full tilt the bottom of the projector by the zoom lens reached 105 deg Fahrenheit after just a couple min’s.

Bottom Line

The BenQ Joybee GP1 is really a very able projector for all those looking to travel light. It is lighting is more desirable than pico projectors for company presentations in bigger rooms, and the $299 selling price makes it half as costly as larger projectors. While we wish it is power brick were smaller sized and controls simpler to use, it is a solid little accessory.

BenQ W6000 Review

The BenQ W6000 is projected to be the most dashing projector anywhere near it is price for movie viewing, and there is no doubt it delivers on that. Few home theater projectors under $10,000 can match the “best mode” sunlight of the W6000.

Often, nonetheless, in the past, the brighter projectors neglected elsewhere to get the brightness. The BenQ W6000, although, also just happens to be a pretty amazing projector overall.

The W6000 has extremely better placement flexibility, sporting lens shift and a 1.5:1 manual zoom lens. Few below $5000 DLP projectors until recently have provided lens shift, though we are viewing a couple more these days. With the slightly longer than natural throw range zoom lens, the BenQ W6000 must functions a rear shelf mounted projector in most rooms, as well, of course being ceiling mountable, or set on a desk.

Comparatively speaking the W6000 is a small to mid-sized projector, there are a few a lots smaller sized, but it’s still fairly compressed, and much smaller than the biggest projectors. It arrives finished in a shiny black with a lighter color around the control panel and lens. All and all, a respectable searching projector, and not a masterpiece.

The BenQ W6000 has that classic DLP look to its image, with rich colors and very great depth. It offers their edition of Brilliant Color, with an easy choice of off or on. BenQ projectors previously reviewed have traditionally produced a very sharp image, and the W6000 projector is no exception.

BenQ W6000

The BenQ W6000is nice and razor sharp on all digital contents, like my favorite HD soccer games, or Discovery-HD channel. Black levels are enhanced with a dynamic iris, and it does deliver really good dark blacks, but the at times visible operation of the dynamic iris, is our primary issue with this projector. It will be discussed elsewhere in the review. Do not let me scare you off with that statement. I’ve yet to see a perfectly “invisible” dynamic iris. Some though, are less frequently marked than others.

There’s a set of problems where the BenQ’s iris is more noticeable than I’d like, but that’s true for most of the projectors with dynamic irises. I am waiting right now to hear back from BenQ, we’ve been discussing the iris, and I am hoping to hear that they will be able to make firmware changes to improve it. Other than that, the BenQ W6000 is an extremely well optimized, first class projector for the cash.

BenQ W6000

The W6000 is accessible online from select dealers as well as local dealers. In a pinch it probably can be purchased straight from BenQ’s site, but as of this time, it is listed, but the cart does not work. Still, my take is why bought directly from the manufacturer if you can buy from a dealer, for the same price? Why not have both a vendor and the producer working for you?

The BenQ W6000 pricing is at their MAP price, so it won’t be below the price of their resellers. I love the idea of Picture in Picture. I’d so like to be able to view a football game projected filling the screen, and have a small display open with my computer signal, so I can see my Luck Football tracking.
